A teenage boy has been killed in a quad bike accident on a Northland dairy farm this morning.
He was 14-year-old Robert McKenzie, known as Robbie.
A police spokesperson said it appeared the quad bike Robbie was riding on a farm near Kaikohe rolled into a ditch and trapped him.
He was found by a family member and taken to a medical centre in Kaikohe, which was not yet open.
Ambulance staff arrived and carried out CPR before the teenager was pronounced dead, the spokesperson said.
The death has been referred to the Coroner and WorkSafe New Zealand is also investigating.
