PNG govt under pressure after security forces storm parliament

16:04 pm on 21 November 2018

Papua New Guinea's capital fell into the grip of unrest yesterday as security force personnel stormed the national parliament.

Shortly before MPs were to debate the new national budget, hundreds of members of the country's disciplinary forces converged on parliament, before some broke into and vandalised parliament, demanding payment for work during last week's APEC summit.

While PNG's government is urging calm and a return to normal after the unrest, the attack on parliament finds it under growing pressure.
