Multiple people were injured in a serious crash on State Highway 2 north of Dannevirke.
The crash shortly before 5.45pm involving four vehicles happened on the highway between Piripiri Road and Otanga Road, police said.
One person has been airlifted to hospital and five others are also injured following the crash.
The status of the six injured ranges from moderate to critical.
State Highway 2 is closed between Ruahine Street and Otanga Road, and is expected to remain so for another couple of hours.
