Groups planning events to mark Waitangi Day next year can now apply for funding.
Manatu Taonga (the Ministry for Culture and Heritage) is calling for applications from people wanting to host celebrations to commemorate the signing of Te Tiriti.
It is keen to encourage projects run in partnership with local councils, community groups and tāngata whenua around the motu.
Examples of community events held this year included a community picnic and hāngi in the Grey District and a Māori dawn ceremony in Auckland.
Grants from the Ministry's Waitangi Day Fund average about $3000 each, and applications close on 21 September.
