A Queensland kindergarten has embraced children's interest in toy guns by issuing them with their own licences.
The Kilkivan Kindergarten says the toy gun licenses are issued when a child shows an interest in using or playing with guns.
She says many children at the kindy, in a rural area west of Gympie, come from properties where parents have guns.
The licences have been used since 2011 when they were first issued because of a child who was "obsessed" with guns.
Children have to take part in a discussion with parents and teachers about gun safety and responsibility before a licence is issued.
