Party leader Judith Collins says that under a National government, work would begin within six months.

She made the announcement during a visit there today.

She says the road would connect Palmerston North's distribution hub area to the Manawatū Gorge in the east, Bulls to the north, and the state highway network south towards Wellington.

Collins says the estimated cost is about $200 million and would be funded as part of the party's transport package.
