The National Federation Party and Social Democrat Liberal Party called for Mr Raj to stand down from his human rights role and as director of the Media Industry Development Authority, over comments he made about regulating hate speech on social media

SODELPA leader Sitiveni Rabuka said someone who holds the positions that Mr Raj does, should stand up for the people of Fiji and not act as a co-oppressor with the government.

The NFP leader Professor Biman Prasad said Mr Raj should not be making these types of statements.

"He's now put himself into a position where it is untenable, and I think he will do a disservice to the people of this country is he tries to continue with these two positions."

However Mr Raj has told FBC news he was standing up to racism, and dismissed calls for him to resign.
