The earthquakes in Christchurch have not deterred 100 new citizens from settling in the city.

A citizenship ceremony was held in Christchurch on Wednesday to welcome people from 23 different countries.

It is the first to be held since the 22 February earthquake.

One of those who attended, Mauritius-born Luc Etienne, says the way people rallied together after the earthquake made being in Christchurch even more appealing.

Mr Etienne says people's spirit in the wake of the disaster was amazing and he couldn't imagine living anywhere else.
