16:04 pm on 10 April 2012

Firefighters have controlled a large scrub fire in the Port Hills in Christchurch.

About four fire trucks are dampening down hotspots.

A Fire Service spokesperson says the fire started on Albert Terrace, threatening two houses before it spread uphill.

They were called out to the blaze just before 1pm on Tuesday and deployed eight fire trucks, a command unit and a helicopter.
