Date set for John Banks' appeal

Former Act party leader John Banks will have his appeal against conviction for filing a false electoral return heard in October.

The case related to his unsuccessful bid to be Auckland's mayor in 2010.

When Banks was sentenced to community work earlier this month, he said he had new unimpeachable evidence that would overturn his conviction.

The Court of Appeal will hear the appeal in Wellington on 29 October.
