Brazilian man's family reach deal with London police

06:16 am on 24 November 2009

The family of an innocent Brazilian man shot dead by police in London in 2005 has reached a compensation deal with police.

Jean Charles de Menezes, who was 27, was shot repeatedly in the head on an underground train after being mistaken for a terrorist suspect.

He was killed two weeks after suicide bomb attacks on the London transport system.

The amount of the compensation payment has not been disclosed, the BBC reports.

A joint statement between the family and Scotland Yard says all litigation has now been resolved.
