Two women were rushed to hospital today after being attacked by a pair of dogs in Invercargill.
The Invercargill City Council said it was shocked at the severity of the attack, which happened about midday, and would be offering support to the victims.
The two large mastiff-cross dogs are now in the council's animal care facility.
The council said it would be exploring the available legal options.
