The government in Papua New Guinea's autonomous Bougainville region has launched its Education Act in Arawa.
The launching means the Bougainville Education Department can now begin adapting the education system to suit the region.
New Dawn FM reports the National Education Minister, Nick Kuman, flew in for the launch, saying the Peter O'Neill Government will continue to support Bougainville's education department until it can fully draw down its remaining education powers.
He says Bougainville was a leader in education before the conflict and now under the new act can make sure education is given priority to allow it to prepare the region's future leaders.
