The veteran Black Cap Ross Taylor knows he's made the right decision to call time on his 15 year international cricket career.
Taylor, who's now 38, announced in December this summer would his last with the Black Caps.
He'll play his final games for New Zealand in the one day series against the Netherlands starting in Mt Maunganui today.
Taylor played his final test against Bangladesh in January not padding up against South Africa in February.
"Watching the test match against South Africa I didn't miss it and so to me that was a good sign that I'd made the right decision.
"I'm happy with the decision that I made and I know it's the end and so just go out there and enjoy it."
Taylor, the first player to play 100 internationals in all three formats of the game, will play his 234th ODI today.
He says he feels a lot less emotional about retiring than when he first made the announcement in December.
"I'm excited, a little less emotional than I was here last time.
"I guess once you make your decision it's still raw in your mind and now that I've had two or three months to digest it.
"I'm just looking forward to playing some one-day cricket again as it's been I while since we've played ODI's and obviously just enjoy myself as well."
Taylor has played 112 Tests with an average of 44.66, 233 ODI's with an average of 48.20 and 102 T20 Internationals with an average of 26.15.
Taylor has never played against the Netherlands.
The T20 international between New Zealand and the Netherlands on Friday night was washed out.
