Stephen Hendry retires

The seven-time world snooker champion Stephen Hendry has announced his retirement from tournament play.

The Scot made the announcement after his 13-2 defeat by Stephen Maguire in the quarter-finals of the World Championships at the Crucible in Sheffield.

The 43-year-old says he made his decision three months ago.
