The Royal Papua New Guinea Constabulary last week certified 31 close protection officers to work during the APEC summit later this year.
Leaders from around the Pacific and Asia are expected at the meeting, with the possibility that US President Donald Trump will attend.
The officers were trained at the Specialist Training Centre at the McGregor Police Barracks in Port Moresby.
Chief Superintendent, Kabib Lamu, from the APEC Joint Security Task Force says these officers will be the front-line officers providing close protection to high profile dignitaries.
He told them they are the face of Papua New Guinea.
