A Samoan lawyer, who was formerly employed by the Development Bank of Samoa, Semi Samau, has been found guilty of theft as a servant and falsifying accounts worth 60,000 US dollars.

The Supreme Court convicted him for seven out of 15 counts he had been charged with.

Samau was employed by the bank as manager for the legal division where he committed the offences between 1998 and 2003.

The trial judge has ordered for the defendant to remain in custody to await the lawyer's submissions on sentence next Thursday.
