Authorities say a large vessel that sank in the Coromandel region will only be recovered mid next week.
The vessel struck rocks near Motukorure Island on Wednesday and sank with 1300 litres of diesel on board, while the skipper and passenger escaped.
Waikato Regional Council said a dive team had assessed the 16-metre vessel in Mercury Bay and stopped fuel from leaking into the ocean.
The divers said equipment to recover the boat would take several days to arrive, and wouldn't happen until Tuesday or Wednesday next week.
