Cook Islands opposition questions money spent on Queen's jubilee

The Cook Islands Opposition leader Wilkie Rasmussen is questioning nearly 100-thousand US dollars spent to represent the Cook Islands at the Queen's Diamond Jubilee

Mr Rasmussen says he believes the money could have been put to better use.

He says the Government's priorities are wrong.

The Cook Islands news reports that Mr Rasmussen believes the government is channelling a disproportionate amount of funding into the Ministry of Cultural Development.

Mr Rasmussen says the ministry Development should instead be spending its money on transporting Cook Islanders from the pa enua to Rarotonga for cultural festivals.
