A prominent South Island man has been charged with sexual offending against six girls over a period of more than 20 years.
The man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, is facing six charges of indecent assault and 10 charges of doing an indecent act.
The girls were aged between nine and 17 at the time of the alleged offending, between 1998 and 2021.
According to court documents, 14 of the charges are representative, meaning multiple offences of the same type are alleged to have been committed in similar circumstances.
The man has been remanded on bail, with a court appearance scheduled next month.
