The Government has yet to finalise the details of a review into gun use, but illegal hunting and risky hunting practices will likely be at the centre.
Earlier this year, Associate Conservation Minister Peter Dunne announced a review into unsafe and illegal gun use to establish what can be done to reduce the risk of death and injury and where responsibility lies.
Mr Dunne said the terms of reference of the review were still being finalised and would not say whether laws would be changed as a result.
He said any deaths caused by improper gun use highlighted conditions that needed addressing.
Mr Dunne said there were grave outcomes for safety if the current law was not better enforced.
He said the terms of reference for the review would be released in the near future.
