Firefighters plan to meet Far North residents today to discuss ongoing efforts to contain a scrub fire that's been burning for 11 days.
The fire near Kaimaumau is continuing to burn in a contained area, closely monitored by ground crew.
It broke out on 18 December and has burned through 2300 hectares of bush, scrub, swamp and dune vegetation.
Incident controller John Sutton said they would discuss progress, health and safety and the long-term outlook.
He said there was a lot of work to do before declaring the area safe.
The fire's perimeter stretches for 40km and there was no significant forecast rainfall.
