Sailings of Interislander ferry Arahura are getting back to normal after an electrical fault set them back yesterday afternoon.
The 2.30pm sailing from Wellington yesterday afternoon was delayed by nearly 90 minutes, while later sailings were put back up to 70 minutes and today's 6.30am sailing was delayed until 7am.
Sailings are now running to time.
A KiwiRail spokesperson said the fault was in a back-up system that operates the ship's fire escape doors and fire alarms.
KiwiRail announced in December that the Arahura, which celebrated its 50,000th crossing of the Cook Strait in June 2014, would be replaced by the Stena Alegra in mid-2015.
