Liverpool's Gerrard agrees two-year contract extension

The Liverpool football club captain Steven Gerrard has agreed a two-year extension to his contract that will keep him at Anfield until at least 2013.

Gerrard, who's 28, has followed manager Rafa Benitez in pledging his long-term future to the club, who could return to the top of the Premier League this weekend as they chase their first title for 19 years.

Liverpool are currently second in the Premier League, a point behind Manchester United and could go top if they avoid defeat at Fulham tomorrow, at least until Manchester United play Aston Villa the next day.
