Properties affected by the Auckland Anniversary floods and Cyclone Gabrielle will be assesed based on three categories that the government announced on Monday. Cyclone Recovery Minister Grant Robertson says classifying damaged properties as low, managed or high risk is one of the first steps towards recovery. He says a final decision on which group a property belongs in will be made after community consultation. And while he expects making a call on low risk properties will be quick, deciding on managed or high risk categories will take longer. West Auckland is Flooding -- or WAIF -- is an advocacy group that was formed after this year's floods destroyed several homes in Tamaki Makaurau.
