A Christchurch toddler has become the youngest Bonus Bonds winner - and a millionaire too.

The three year old, whose family wish to remain anonymous, won $1 million in August.

His account was reportedly set up when he was born with just $250 worth of bonds, given by a relative.

Thousands of prizes are paid out monthly to savers, lottery-style with $1 million the biggest prize.

The boy's mother said it was a jump-up-and-down moment when they heard of the win just after returning from overseas.
