The man at the centre of a police stand-off in Lower Hutt earlier this year which lasted more than 10 hours has appeared in court.

Several schools in the suburb of Taitā were put in lockdown during the siege on 27 February before the 25-year-old was taken into custody.

They included Avalon Intermediate School, Naenae College and Naenae Intermediate.

He is charged with presenting an imitation firearm.

In the Hutt Valley District Court on Thursday, Judge John Walker set another court date for 10 July.
