Police are at the scene of a serious multiple vehicle crash in Pongakawa, Western Bay of Plenty.

Emergency services were alerted to the crash on Wharere and Te Puke East Roads about 4pm.
Police said several people had serious injuries, helicopters had been dispatched and diversions were in place.
Motorists were asked to avoid the area and expect delays.
