A person has been taken to hospital in a critical condition after an incident at a Christchurch ice-skating rink.
Alpine Ice Sports Centre general manager Finn O'Leary said an incident occurred during its public skating session on Tuesday, with a customer sustaining an injury while skating.
They were assisted on site by emergency services and the centre would remain closed for the remainder of the day.
O'Leary said their thoughts were with the person's family.
A St John spokesperson said it was called to the sports centre on Brougham Street shortly after 11am.
Two ambulances and a rapid response vehicle were sent to the sports centre, with one patient taken to Christchurch Hospital in a critical condition.
A Health New Zealand spokesperson said it was unable to provide an update on the person's condition.
