The two New Zealand middle distance runners Nick Willis and Julian Matthews have both qualified for the semi finals of the 1500m at the world track and field champs in Beijing.
Willis contested the third and final heat and comfortably paced himself in finishing third.

The first six from each heat plus the six fastest losers all advanced to the next round.
Matthews finished sixth in his heat to automatically advance to the semi finals on Friday.
The final is on Sunday at 11.45pm

Nikki Hamblin was due to compete in the women's 5000m but had to withdraw with a foot injury.
