The government has announced an initial package of aid for people in Vanuatu after the damage wrought by ex-Tropical Cyclone Lola.

In a social media post, outgoing Foreign Minister Nanaia Mahuta said New Zealand would provide $350,000 to the Adventist Development and Relief Agency, to provide supplies on the ground.

Another $100,000 will go the Vanuatu government to address its direct requests for help.

New Zealand has also sent five disaster response experts to the islands, and provided an Air Force surveillance and supply flight.
