The FLNKS will be accompanied to the Senior Officials and Ministerial Meeting in Baku by a team from the Melanesian Spearhead Group secretariat.

According to the MSG secretariat, it's also to provide technical support to the FLNKS delegation which has been given funding from New Caledonia's congress to travel to Azerbaijan.

Subsequent to the meetings, the delegation will then travel to Brussels to meet with MSG ambassadors resident in Belgium.

There the Kanak delegates are to give an update on New Caledonia's self-determination process under the Noumea Accord.

The MSG has been monitoring New Caledonia's path towards its upcoming self-determination referendum, due to be held in November this year as provided for by the Noumea Accord.

The MSG said it has also been monitoring the process to ensure a transparent and fair referendum.
