NZ Cricket knew about match-fixing allegations

The chief executive of New Zealand Cricket David White says he knew that Auckland Aces matches in the 2012 Champions League in South Africa were under investigation for match-fixing.

Former Black Caps batsman Lou Vincent opened up to investigators about widespread match-fixing in several countries, with the revelations being revealed by British media.

White confirmed the development after the Telegraph newspaper reported Vincent had provided the International Cricket Council anti-corruption unit "with a treasure trove of information about matches that were targeted for match fixing and the names of players" involved.

The report says Vincent provided evidence about match fixing during competitions in England, India, New Zealand, Hong Kong and South Africa

White says the revelations contained in the newspaper were well known to New Zealand officials and didn't come as a surprise.

He says no games played in New Zealand were part of the investigation.

Although no current New Zealand players nor any games involving the Black Caps were being investigated White says the ICC are investigating some Auckland Aces matches in the 2012 Champions League.

The Auckland Cricket chief executive Mark Cameron refused to comment on any of the allegations, as did the former Aces coach Paul Strang.

Vincent, who played for Auckland in New Zealand's domestic competition, was revealed last December to have been under investigation along with fellow New Zealanders Chris Cairns and Daryl Tuffey over allegations of match-fixing.
