A three-day ban on alcohol is to be imposed on members of the United States' Andersen Air Force Base in Guam.
The US military's newspaper Stars and Stripes reports that the booze ban is an attempt to curb what's being described as "an alarming rate" of alcohol-related incidents.
The order forbids military members from consuming alcohol for 72 hours starting Friday April 21st through to Monday, April 24th
The order was given by 36th Wing Vice Commander Col. Stephen Wolborsky and applies to the entire wing, according to the article.
Commander Wolborsky has also asked that Department of Defence civilians consider voluntarily participating in the drinking ban.
A number of alcohol-related incidents have occurred recently on Andersen, connected with sexual assaults, domestic violence and other offences punishable under the Uniform Code of Military Justice.
