More than 2.5 million passengers are expected to converge on Queenstown Airport by 2045. In October, plans to expand the airport were quickly shot down, with the community saying the area is struggling to handle existing visitor numbers - let alone add more to the mix. Instead residents began pointing to nearby regions to pick up the slack, including Invercargill, Dunedin and Wanaka. But are they in a position to pick up more flights? Our Otago/Southland reporter Tess Brunton spoke to airports find out.
