Bay of Plenty lakes low

20:29 pm on 15 January 2014

The Bay of Plenty Regional Council says lakes Rotoiti and Rotorua are at low levels and approaching minimum operating conditions.

It says the low levels can affect navigation and access to jetties in some places.

The council says the lakes' shorelines are up to 10 centimetres below normal, but the situation is not critical at this stage. The lake levels will remain low until there is a significant amount of rain.
