Samoa's opposition Tautua Samoa party has elected a woman supporter and founding member, Leatinu'u Salote Lesa, as its new president.
Leatinu'u Salote was chosen to replace Va'aelua Eti Alesana who died last month.
The newly elected president is the wife of a former ruling HRPP party MP who was the Minister of Works, Matatauali'itia 'Afa Lesa.
She told reporters it's her own right and choice to be a supporter of another political party.
The new president says she applauds the support given to her by the party, saying it's an achievement for the opposition to promote women to political leadership.
