Auckland prisoner escape: Police appeal for sightings with release of CCTV picture

Police are still searching for the prisoner who escaped from Corrections custody in Auckland yesterday.

Te Ariki Poulgrain, who has known links to the Killer Beez gang, was attending a medical appointment at the time.

Police said they were still making enquiries, using a helicopter, and reviewing CCTV footage to locate the 23-year-old.

Police are appealing to the public for sightings as they released a picture of Poulgrain on CCTV on Park Road, Grafton, yesterday.

He was shown to be wearing a white T-shirt, light coloured shorts and sneakers. Police say he may also still be wearing a pair of handcuffs.

Yesterday, police said the handcuffs would be particularly difficult to remove.

Poulgrain is described as about 183cm tall and of thin build. He is considered dangerous and should not be approached.

People are asked to call 111 if they see him.
