A new speakers' corner has opened in Christchurch, and the first session has dealt with the aftermath of the earthquakes, and recovery of the city.
The public speakers' corner is now sited on privately owned land on the corner of Fitzgerald Avenue and Ferry Road.
Before the earthquakes, it was based in Cathedral Square.
Saturday was the inaugural event at the new site, where about 50 people listened to speeches from local politicians, academics, and members of community earthquake action groups.
Organisers hope to run the speaking events every month.
