Police are searching for a knife in relation to the death of Arohaina Henare in Napier earlier this month.
The 34-year-old was found unresponsive at a residential address on Nuffield Avenue, Mārewa on 18 November, and died at the scene.
In a statement, detective sergeant Emmet Lynch said police were asking the public, particularly those who live between Whitmore Park and the Mārewa shops, to check their properties for a knife similar to the one pictured.
Information can be shared with police via 105, or online, quoting file number 221118/1878, or anonymously via Crime Stoppers on 0800 555 111.
A day after the Henare was found, a 48-year-old man was arrested and charged with murder.
He was granted interim name suppression at the Hastings District Court and is due to appear before the Napier High Court on 9 December.
