A search is underway in New Caledonia for a missing microlight aircraft.

The plane with two people on board was part of a greater group planning to fly from the Noumea area to the Isle of Pines.
Reports said unfavourable weather conditions prompted them to turn back when one aircraft vanished.
Military aircraft and ships are involved in the search.
Last month, two people died in a microlight crash in northern New Caledonia.
