Three teenagers have been charged following an aggravated robbery at a service station on Hyderabad Road in Napier.

Acting Inspector Neale Saunders said two people broke into the premises by smashing the glass door and stealing cigarettes and food, about 5.30am on Wednesday.

A third person waited outside in a stolen car.

They were found at an Onekawa address later that day and police said they recovered some of the stolen property.

The service station worker was unhurt but badly shaken, police said.

The three teenagers later appeared in the Hastings Youth Court.

Two, aged 16 and 14, were charged with aggravated robbery, and another, aged 13, has been referred to Youth Aid.

Police said further charges were likely.
