The Federation of Maori Authorities (FOMA) is working with Beef + Lamb New Zealand to send its members on seminars to equip them to deal with climate change.
Maori incorporations have been encouraged by FOMA to share knowledge and come up with smarter policies to protect primary industry businesses from future droughts.
FOMA chief executive Te Horipo Karaitiana says the federation is doing what it can to support its members.
He says FOMA has joined with Beef + Lamb New Zealand to run a number of seminars across the country, called Farming the Wild Weather, giving Maori agri-businesses and farmers practical tools and information they need.
Mr Karaitiana says the federation is also working with the Primary Industry Training Organisation to build the capacity and capability of people within their farming enterprises.
