Some of New Zealand's most lucrative fish stocks have been re-certified as being sustainably caught.
The international Marine Stewardship Council has given the tick to the deepwater fishing fleet targeting hoki, hake, ling and southern blue whiting.
The Deepwater Group, representing quota owners, says this is no mean feat and shows the commitment of the seafood industry and the government to ensuring these species are caught sustainably.
It notes that hoki has been certified by the council since 2001 and that this is the longest-standing certified white fish in the world.
Hoki is used in McDonald's hamburgers.
