Raymond Huo and Priyanca Radhakrishnan were among those who failed to secure list seats in Parliament at the 2014 election, after the party's poor result.

Mr Little said the New Zealand Labour Party Council had to work harder to make sure more ethnic MPs had an opportunity to make it into Parliament.

"We don't have a quota, but it is a commitment and a determination to have better representation, and a more representative and reflective caucus than we have at the moment."
