The England under-20 team successfully defended their Junior World Championship crown on Friday beating South Africa 21-20 at Eden Park in Auckland.
Tries from Nathan Earle and Joel Conlon looked to have won England the game, but the Baby Boks rallied from 21-13 down with a late try to set up a thrilling finale.
Earlier, New Zealand claimed third place in the Championship after beating Ireland 45-23.
Tevita Li and Richie Mo'unga each scored a brace while James Tucker, Mitchell Drummond, Lachlan Boshier also dotted down.
New Zealand's impressive fullback Damian McKenzie kicked five conversions.
