Spark, the former Telecom, says the early signs are that its re-branding has been successful and the phone company is in its best position for more than a decade.
Spark's chairman, Mark Verbiest, told the annual shareholders' meeting the company was striving for a return to sustainable earnings growth.
He reiterated the company's August guidance for a small increase in operating profit and a single-digit decline in revenue this year.
Spark reported a near 8 percent decline in underlying profit for the year ended June when sales fell nearly 3 percent.
Mr Verbiest said the company was slightly ahead of its plan but competition remained intense, particularly in the mobile and broadband markets.
