A man has died after a single-car crash on State Highway 24, south of Matamata, early this morning.

A police spokesperson said emergency services were called to the crash about 6.30am.
The 54-year-old died at the scene.
Police earlier said it appeared the car had veered off SH24 and into a ditch.
Part of State Highway 24 was closed earlier in the day but it has now reopened.
