Auckland police are trying to establish the circumstances of a person found critically injured on a road in Karaka, south of Auckland.
Barry Rd was closed earlier as police carried out a scene examination, but has since reopened.
The person is in hospital in a critical condition.
Police and ambulance went to the spot around 3.15pm on Thursday after reports of an injured person on the road.
Motorists were asked to avoid the area and expect delays.
