The former All Whites captain Steve Sumner says he's humbled to have a stand at English Park football ground in Chrischurch named in his honour.

'The Steve Sumner Stand' was officially named at the weekend.

"It was humbling and a privilege rolled into one to be the centre of attention and my family all told me how proud they were," said Sumner.
